Our former student was awarded as a Successful Woman in Cutting-Edge Research by the Austrian Science Fund

Barbora currently works as a postdoc at the Department of Applied and Experimental Oncology, Center for Cancer Research, Medical University of Vienna focusing on the impact of cancer associated fibroblasts on albumin-targeting drugs in colorectal cancer. In the autumn of 2023, she secured funding for her project through the FWF career program ESPRIT, which fosters career development by empowering junior researchers to assume the role of principal investigators in independent research projects.

Jana Šmardová's book What Tumors Teach Us was published in English

On January 17, 2024, the book What Tumors Teach Us, Parallels in Cell and Human Behavior was oficially launched. Its author, Prof. Jana Šmardová, connects the world of cells in a multicellular organism with the world of humans in society in an original way and looks at the rules on which successful coexistence in both systems is based, including the pathological consequences of non-compliance. The book, illustrated by Dr. Jana Koptíková, has been published by MUNIPRESS.
