This year, the MjUNI juniors transformed monocytes into macrophages and immediately sent them into a battle for the title of the greatest predator. The phagocytic showdown and the hunt for differentiation antigens were ultimately surpassed by determining the lecturers’ blood groups.

Book Launch: "The Song of the Cell" translated by prof. Šmarda

On November 29, at the Brno Book Festival, MUNI Press introduced the Czech edition of Siddhartha Mukherjee’s latest work The Song of the Cell: Medicine and the New Human. The translation was prepared by Prof. Jan Šmarda. Mukherjee’s book offers a captivating journey through the history of cell research, interwoven with stories of patients, doctors, and scientists, highlighting how modern medicine is transforming our understanding of life and health.

New Open-Source Tool for 3D Migration Analysis in Organoids and Spheroids

Visit and MUNI Life Science Seminar Lecture by prof. Lubor Borsig

In April, we were visited by our long-time collaborator, Prof. Lubor Borsig from the University of Zurich. During the visit, we discussed our ongoing projects, and at the end, Prof. Borsig gave a lecture on the role of the endothelium in the formation of metastases at the MUNI Life Science Seminar Series.

Małgorzatas' erasmus internship visit

In March, we had a very pleasant visit from Polish Łódź. Dr. Małgorzata Gałdyszyńska was with us as an intern for a week, getting inspiration and sharing her experiences. It was a really nice and interesting enrichment for our working days.

President Petr Pavel and Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Mikuláš Bek presented appointment decrees to new professors at the Karolinum in Prague. Among the new appointees was Petr Beneš, our colleague.
