Cooperation
Chromosomal disorders represent an important category of genetic diseases. Congenital numerical and structural abnormalities of chromosomes are significantly involved in many cases of reproductive disorders, congenital malformations or mental retardation, and acquired aberrations play an important role in the pathogenesis of cancer.
Molecular cytogenetic and cytogenomic investigations contribute significantly to the refinement of cytogenetic findings and thus to the improvement and acceleration of the diagnosis and treatment of genetically determined diseases. Therefore, in close connection with the results of our research, we closely cooperate with a number of clinical departments that perform cytogenetic diagnostics. The basic principle is to provide patients with the necessary molecular level of diagnosis of chromosomal abnormalities.
We collaborate with other academic and private domestic and international institutions in research projects and scientific tasks:
- Institute of Medical Genetics and Genomics (formerly the Department of Medical Genetics), Brno University Hospital
- Centre of Molecular Biology and Genetics, IHOK, FN Brno
- Biosciences Institute, Faculty of Medical Sciences at Newcastle University (The United Kingdom)
- Institute of Applied Biotechnologies, Olomouc
