Effect of soil depth on the structure of bacterial composition in the active layer at five geologically distinct sites on James Ross and Vega Islands in Antarctica
Micenková et al., Polar Biology 2024
We have published what microbes we find in the surface layer above permafrost, known as the active layer, which thaws seasonally and is considered an important component of terrestrial ecosystems, where these microbes represent significant source of new bacterial species with potential, e.g., as a promising source of new antimicrobial compounds.
